DESPITE being drawn away to Maghull in their Carlsberg West Cheshire League Pyke Cup first-round clash, Chester Nomads were very much at home and, inspired by a smart double from Sam Manton, the Chester outfit savoured a memorable 4-1 victory.

Joe Imlach and Ed Moss also found the net, with Danny Dillon bagging the hosts' consolation.

A Gerard King penalty together with a Ross McDowell effort were sufficient as Newton eclipsed Vauxhall Motors 2-1, and it was celebration time for Richmond Raith Rovers, who had Tommy Houghton, Jamie McDonald and Ali Birmingham on target in a 3-1 result at Helsby, who hit back via Lee Turkington.

Jordan Griffiths netted for West Kirby but it was visitors Upton AA who progressed after goals from Chris Melia and Sean Finch secured a 2-1 triumph.

A spirited Mallaby gave it their best shot before capitulating 3-0 to efforts from Heswall's Jack Horrocks, Andy Kingan and Greg Drummond.

Form side Neston Nomads maintained progress when a four- goal blast from Luke Blondel sent Bootle Reserves crashing to a 6-1 defeat, and Jack Garriock left his calling card with all three goals as Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves beat West Kirby Reserves. 3-1.

Evergreen campaigner Gordon Harrison scored both goals for Heswall Reserves but still finished on the losing side after South Liverpool Reserves breezed to a 6-2 victory.

A Mark Ellis penalty, allied to further goals from Sean Homer and Chris Davidson, set Rainhill Town Reserves up for a comfortable 3-0 win at Cammell Laird 1907 Development.
