TRANMERE Rovers' manager Gary Brabin says his squad is well-prepared for what promises to be a tough home game against newly-promoted Maidstone United this weekend.

During a press conference at ahead of Saturday's match, Brabin said confidence was high after an excellent start to the new season.

Rovers have won each of their first four fixtures and are currently top of the league.

But Brabin is well aware of the threat a newly-promoted team can pose.

Assessing tomorrow's opponents, he said: "Maidstone are a side on the crest of a wave after getting promoted so they will be confident.

"Our main focus is always to be respectful of the opposition, be aware of problems they can pose but first and foremost we need to focus on ourselves and do our jobs well.

"We believe that we'll get better and better.

"It's about performances, the results will take care of themselves.

"We're not looking further than the next game and we want to win the next game.

"When you are working as hard as we are and playing as well as we are, that's the thing that gives us confidence going into games.

"We won't be taking our foot off the gas.

"We have to keep going and keep reminding ourselves of what we've been doing to be performing well and getting the results we have been."

Brabin's enthusiasm is echoed by goalkeeper Scott Davies, who said: "The bounce has been there since pre-season.

"Winning breeds confidence, and that bounce has been there since day one.

"The main goal this season is promotion. I don't want to be in this league forever.

"Last year there were times when we kept clean sheets, but were not getting the goals.

"But it looks good to see Tranmere top of the league."
