Mike Taylor and Stuart Putson had kept them in the game after the 90 minute mark and it was the evergreen Adi Gough who gave them the winner deep into extra time to see them safely through.

Lewis Davenport, Dan Christian, Liam Bradley and an own goal saw Newton Athletic through 4-1 against Kelsall and Nial Evans, Rob Noon, Phil Abraham, James Abraham, John Britton, Ian Johnson and an own goal gave Samba a 7-0 away win at Ellesmere Port Spartans.

Shaftesbury Youth looked down and out trailing 4-1 with only 20 minutes to go against Neston Nomads but a stunning fight back saw them into the third round, winning 6-4 after extra time.

Danny Smith hit a first half goal for Shafts with Jon McGra, Jimmy Gomez and Anthony Povall forcing the tie into extra time.

James Drayton then gave Shafts the lead before Danny Smith hit his second to secure them the game.

Ellesmere Port FC had an easier time of it.

They entertained Elton Rigger and ran out 12-0 winners, Lee Youds 2, Matty Earlam, Danny Woodcock, Peter Barnett 2, Liam Davenport 3, Dan Page, Adam Forster and Mitchell Bailey their marksmen. Lache travelled to Neston Town and secured a 4-1 away win.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division Lodge Bar failed to go top after a 2-2 draw at home to Higher Bebington Kelma, Joe Yates and Illya Haycock their scorers.

FC Blacon made their long awaited return to action in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One but went down 11-2 at Elton Athletic.

Elton's goals came from Steve Griffiths, Josh Clayton, Joe Ormrod (2), Jake Harrison (3), Adam Hall, Jack Roberts and an own goal.

Whitby Athletic entertained Lodge Bar Reserves and ran out 5-1 winners with goals from Steve Rothwell (2), Danny Mogan (2) and Jamie Ranford.
