THERE was a very low turn out at the Flyers in Birkenhead Park on Sunday but considering the weather, which was cold, wet and miserable this was not too surprising.

John Harrison of New Brighton Quarry Vikings clearly likes these conditions as he came through the field beating the consistent Dougie Briscoe in the final.

Harrison had a really tough opponent, Tixall's Mick Andrews, in the quarter finals but he came through with a good win and then, coming back from 15-09 down, he just scraped through against Port Sunlight's Nick Woodward in his semi-final match.

Briscoe had two fairly comfortable wins to get through to the final firstly over Hoylake's Tom Walker and then Lever's Joe Edwards.

However it was Harrison who had the comfortable win in the final and he recorded his first victory of this series of tournaments with a 21-11 victory.

Results:

Quarter-finals: D. Briscoe 21, T. Walker (Hoylake Central) 16; J. Edwards (Levers) 21, P. McBride (Port Sunlight Village and Works) 09; N. Woodward (Port Sunlight V&W) 21, W. Atkinson (West Kirby) 18; J. Harrison (New Brighton Quarry Vikings) 21, M. Andrews (Tixall) 13.

Semi-final: Briscoe 21, Edwards 12; Harrison 21, Woodward 20. Final: Harrison 21, Briscoe 11.
