Tranmere midfielder Lois Maynard said that they'd have preferred to have had a game coming up this weekend after a remarkable victory over Barrow last Saturday.

Maynard scored Rovers' second goal which sparked an injury time blitz in the thrilling 4-3 comeback, and he says there has been a positive mood since.

Rovers are out of action this weekend after being eliminated in the first-round of the FA Trophy by Wrexham in December.

Maynard said: "We'd rather be playing and crack on from the Barrow game and try to get another performance in like that.

"But it's not to be and we have to wait until the Bromley game in a week's time.

"This week has been good, it has been a bit different, we have done some boxing and running today so it has been good.

"It's been all over the internet (stories about the comeback win at Barrow) so it's been hard not to see it.

"They've been calling it the greatest comeback of the decade, I don't know about that but it's good to have been a part of it and good to get a goal."

The 26-year-old remains confident that Rovers can mount a promotion challenge and thinks the manner of the victory last week could be the catalyst they need to push on.

Meanwhile, Rovers and Liverpool FC have reached agreement for the Red's next Under-21 and Under-18 matches to be played at Prenton Park.

The agreement will see Liverpool under-21s Barclays Premier Cup tie against Leeds United staged on Tuesday, January 19, with a 7pm kick-off.

There is also an agreement to stage their under-18s FA Youth Cup tie against Cardiff City on Wednesday, January 27,(awaiting FA permissions).

The Wirral club says stadium and pitch improvements have been the main factor for Liverpool requesting to play these matches at the home of Rovers.
