TRANMERE Rovers' assistant coach Shaun Garnett has appealed for fans to stick with the squad as it tackles mistakes that have cost them in recent weeks.

There's no game for the club this Saturday, as FA Cup first round action takes place, but Gary Brabin's side return to league action a week on Saturday, November 14, taking on Lincoln City at Sincil Bank Stadium.

Rovers slipped to tenth in the National League last weekend after losing 1-0 to in-form Dover Athletic . It was their third consecutive home league defeat.

They were knocked out of the FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat by Lincoln City in the fourth qualifying round replay.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, Shaun Garnett said the players will use this weekend as an opportunity for extra training.

Appealing to the fans, he said: "Stick with us'.

"I'm a supporter myself, so I know what this club means to supporters.

"I'd be disappointed not playing this weekend, but it's allowed us to train on what we need to improve.

"Just be patient with us.

"What they will get from Gary Brabin and the players is 110% as we try to get promotion."

On the season so far, he continued: "A third of the season has gone, but we know we've got two thirds left and there’s plenty of time to put a run together.

"We can do better and have to put a lot more into the final third of games.

"We'd like to have more points and there’s a lot to play for.

"One win in five games is not good and we are working hard to get that right.

"We are not a million miles away from where we should be, but we can't keep saying that.

"In terms of the points tally, we are just two points off the play-offs."

Praising the squad's performance to date, he said: "We've got good players and need to break teams down.

"But at the moment we are not doing enough to take the game to them."
