WIRRAL and Lymm put on a good show at Clatterbridge with Wirral successful 37-28.

It was Wirral who broke the deadlock with two tries from Rob Pearl and a conversion from Craig Harvey to take an early 12-0 lead.

Wirral were on top at this stage when a tackle on the Wirral prop Ross Page caused concern.

The match was held up as medical staff attended Ross, who was stretched off with a dislocated knee and ligament damage.

Wirral continued to attack and after a handling move involving a number of players, Sam Broadbent squeezed in at the corner.

In the last minute of the first half, Lymm hit back with a converted try from Rick Halford to leave the score at half-time 17-7.

Just before half-time, Wirral lost captain Craig Harvey with ligament damage to his knee.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Wirral increased their lead to 31-7 with two tries by forwards Jack Yarker and Paul Lewis, both converted by Dan Harvey.

Lymm came back into the game and began to control the game, scoring tries through Mark Wells, Adam Bray and Dan Horton, all of which were converted, reducing the arrears to 34-28.

Lymm had the momentum and the home crowd were relieved when Dan Harvey kicked a penalty.
