IT was back to business in the CWFL this week with a full programme for all the open-age divisions.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Deva Athletic were sunk by a last-minute free-kick by Mark Lawler of Higher Bebington Kelma, losing 1-0.

Brothers Ryan and Liam Atherton combined to keep Birkenhead Town on top as they travelled to Ellesmere Port Town Reserves to record a 2-0 win.

Lodge Bar stay in second place after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Shaftesbury Youth. Illya Haycock and Joe Yates were the scorers for Lodge with Ali Major replying for Shafts.

Whitby Athletic continued their climb up the table and now sit in third place after their fifth successive win.

They entertained Uberlube, beating them 7-1 thanks to strikes from Steve Rothwell (2), James Atkins (2), James Shaw, Jamie Radson and Josh Wonderley.

Kelsall appear to have turned the corner and are now sitting in eighth place after back-to-back league wins. It was Christleton Celtic who travelled to Dog Lane in a game that saw Adam Crimes bag a hat-trick for Kelsall to give them a 3-2 win.

Ashton enjoyed an 8-2 win in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One over FC Blacon thanks to a splendid team performance.

Matt Hayes, Lee Reynolds, Mark Hughes, Jamie Whitlow (2), Dean Rattcliffe, Richie Tallis and Paul Gunderson were all on the mark for Ashton with Josh Taylor-Pogue hitting a brace in reply for Blacon.

Blacon Thistle stay top after an away day victory over Neston Nomads Reserves.

Joe Henry bagged two with other goals coming from Tom George, James Henry, Luke Jones and Jordan Sharp.

Newton Athletic stay second on goal difference thanks to a 3-1 win at home to Chester Nomads III, Dan Christian, Marc Moorefield and Daniel Eaton their marksmen.

Conner Bowman hit an eight-minute hat-trick for Franklyn’s in their 8-3 home win over Cestrian Alex. Dave Swain hit a further four and Ross Henderson one to seal an emphatic win.

Nial Peaker (2) and Tom Richardson replied for Cestrian.

Andrew Lewis hit a consolation goal for Neston Town as they went down 5-1 at home to Woodchurch Athletic. James Atherton (2), Phil Hudson, JJ Harrison and Sonny Allinson were the Woodies scorers.

Clubbies remain top of the CWFL Link Up Division Two despite being held to a goalless draw away to Eastham Athletic.

MBNA moved into second place after a fine 5-3 win over early leaders Samba.

MBNA took an early lead through Daniel Green with Samba hitting a quick reply thanks to Nial Evans.

MBNA then took the lead just before the break thanks to Paul Rambaldi. Samba dominated the start of the second half with Steve Finlay hitting a brace to give them a 3-2 lead.

However, with the pace of the game picking up as MBNA pushed on, Samba succumbed to a further two goals from Green and another from Rambaldi to see them victorious.

Hoole Youth returned to winning ways with a hard fought 4-3 win over Ellesmere Port Town III thanks to goals from Aaron Rowlands (2), Luke Chard and Jack Green.
