Rovers manager Gary Brabin was content with a point after Tranmere drew 1-1 against Grimsby at Blundell Park.

On-loan striker Nathan Blissett came up with the second-half equaliser in Friday night's televised game as Tranmere again battled back to claim an away point.

After coming from two down to draw 2-2 at Southport in midweek, substitute Blissett scored his first goal for Rovers just three minutes after coming on.

Grimsby had led through Jon-Paul Pittman's ninth-minute right-foot shot.

But Steve Jennings set up Blissett to find the bottom corner with a right-foot shot from 12 yards.

Grimsby remain in seventh, a place above Tranmere ahead of the rest of Saturday's National League programme.

Brabin said: "Grimsby put us under a lot of pressure for the last 25 minutes. We started the game well and were unfortunate to go a goal behind.

"Their goal was from a mis-header by their player and Pittman was the only one who reacted but Scott Davies couldn't do anything as his jersey was being held so that was disappointing.

"But these are things we can't do anything about, we had to react to protect the goalkeeper and we didn't so we went a goal down.

"We controlled it for 65 minutes and then for the last 25 minutes, we weathered the storm and, in the end, I think it was probably a fair result."

He was full of praise for Blissett: "Bliss was always in our thoughts to come on and he made an immediate impact and we then thought we could go on and win the game. He worked hard and did well to score the goal.

"I think we reacted well for the rest of the first half and well at the start of the second half and then we felt we could go on and win it.

"We ended up having to make changes rather than wanting to. Grimsby got on top for the last 25 minutes.

"I thought we passed the ball really well tonight, played some good football and the keeper who made the save from our set play was outstanding and after that you think maybe things are going to go against us."
