TRANMERE Rovers' manager Gary Brabin says it is too early for fans to judge his squad in the opening weeks of life in National League football.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon ahead of a busy Bank Holiday weekend, which will see games against Altrincham and Kidderminster, Brabin said self-belief and positivity were key to club standing any chance of promotion this year.

Rovers were beaten 2-0 at home by Boreham Wood and have been hard at work on the training ground to iron out the mistakes which led to their defeat.

More than 1,000 fans will follow Rovers to Altrincham on Saturday.

Brabin said this afternoon: "The mood in the camp has been good, the squad has responded really well.

"The last three days have been tough since the Saturday game, but there's a real endeavour in the training sessions.

"We're not going to go from losing games consecutively over two years to winning every single game.

"We want to be pushing for promotion, so we need to stay positive and have that belief. Judge us at the end of the season."

Rovers are away to Altrincham on Saturday and at home to Kidderrminster on Bank Holiday Monday.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Brabin said: "The games are what they are. They are coming thick and fast.

"After disappointment on Saturday, we are preparing for this weekend.

"Altrincham are a sustained team, they have got stronger this year. They have got some good players and it's always a difficult place to go.

"If we can play to the best of our ability we will be more than a match for anyone.

"We want to start getting better and scoring the goals, bringing back winning ways to the club.

"We've got goals in this side, but we just need need to better at creating chances in the final third.

"There's a real will to win and put things right."

His thoughts on staying positive are echoed by midfield Jay Harris, who said: "There's no place for doom and gloom at Prenton Park. If we accept mediocrity, there's no point being here.

"We've got to get onto the problem and put it right for Saturday. There are 41 games to go in this season and it's better to correct any mistakes now, rather than at the end of the season.

"We could get two wins out of two over the Bank Holiday weekend.

"On Saturday, we've only got to worry about ourselves, and have got to be a lot more entertaining for the fans.

"We'll have 1,000 fans with us on Saturday, so we've got to play our style and see what pans out.

"Over the last few weeks I've learned a lot. This is a great side, we're just not clicking the way we wanted to.

"It will take time. Once we've clicked, the fans will see how much better we are."
