Tranmere Rovers have today signed 25-year-old striker Nathan Blissett on a one-month loan deal from League Two side Bristol Rovers.

The 6ft 3ins centre forward, who is nephew to former England and AC Milan striker Luther Blissett, began his professional career at Kidderminster Harriers.

A goal for Harriers against Bristol Rovers prompted a move to the Memorial Stadium in November 2014 and he scored on his debut for The Gas against Chester FC and helped the club to win promotion back into the Football League at the end of last season.

Manager Gary Brabin said, “I’m very pleased to be able to bring Nathan to the club. He’s a good player and will add a different dimension to the squad.”

Rovers remain unbeaten in the National League and confidence should be high when they host Boreham Wood on Saturday following their mid-week 1-0 victory over Halifax Town, which left them in second place in the table.

Brabin added: "It’s only early days but I'm pleased about the consistency. It's nice that we have got off to a good start.

"Boreham will be on a high having gained promotion last year so they will have a winning mentality. It’s a case of us trying doing what we are capable of."

Brush-up on Boreham:

Nickname: The Wood

Colours: White shirts, black shorts and black socks

Ground: Meadow Park

Distance from Prenton Park: 203 miles

Position last season: Second Conference South (promoted via play-offs)

The Wood are competing in the National League for the first time after prevailing against Whitehawk in the play-off final after extra time.

With four games of the season gone, they are presently in 18th place in the table, with one win and three defeats.
