TRANMERE Rovers are preparing for what promises to be a tough home game against Halifax Town tomorrow night.

Kicking off at 7.45pm, it follows a goalless draw between Gary Brabin's squad and Braintree Town on Saturday.

Looking ahead to the game during a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, Brabin said: "It's good to have a break with a game at home, following a couple of games on the road.

"Halifax have strengthened this year. It will be a tough game. We want to try and be professional in everything that we do.

"I'm confident that if we can keep creating chances we will score goals.

"We all have to be patient.

"There's a really good team spirit, a real work ethic, we look solid defensively and there's a will to win.

"It's hard in football to create chances. We want to get the whole ingredients right."

"We've had to nurse a couple of bumps and bruises, so we'll see how they are over the next 24 hours, before deciding on the squad."

Saturday's match waited until the ninth minute of stoppage time before its first shot on target.

Rovers' substitute Adam Mekki's effort was saved, while Jay Harris's 25-yarder was the only other notable strike on goal by the visitors.

The hosts' pair of Simeon Akinola and Dan Sparkes launched long-range shots that flew over in an uninspiring game.

Braintree climbed to 20th in the National League as a result of the draw, while Rovers lost their 100% start to the season and dropped to fourth.

On his squad's current table position Brabin said: "It's too early to read anything into league tables. The whole club has to learn patience.

"It's not going to be pretty at times, but our position-to-games ratio is good. We are going to get better, because we know we need to improve.

"The fans have been brilliant. It's certainly not doom and gloom.

"It will be frustrating trying to break teams down."
