TRANMERE Rovers have got off to a flying start in the National League - but their boss says the team still have improvements to make.

Rovers sealed their second success of the new campaign on Tuesday after a comfortable 4-1 win at Gateshead.

Manager Gary Brabin said: "Two games in we're working really hard and have had two great results.

"We're not going to get conceited. There is a long way to go.

"We're delighted with where we are up to now - but we still have improvements to make.

"The team is by no means the finished article."

Tranmere will be making a 240-mile trip down to Essex where they'll face Braintree Town this Saturday.

Brabin said solid preparation will be the key to beating "The Iron."

"We'll be travelling on Friday and will be stopping off for a training session on the way.

"We’ve know we've got to train properly and we're hoping it will bring the same results.

“Braintree will be at home as the underdogs, but their manager Danny Cowley has a good club and they've held their own in this league."

Winger Adam Mekki signed for Tranmere on a six-month contract following a trial at Prenton Park earlier this month.

The 23-year-old ended last season with Dover Athletic after joining them from Barnet - who finished top of the Conference Premier and were promoted to League Two.

The Chester-born player believes Rovers have what it takes: “I’m confident we can win the league.

"It’s important that we continue to work hard and physically dominate other teams.

“We’re an impressive side and I think the boys have gelled really well.

“That’s the sign of a good team. There’s no bad eggs. They are all here to work hard.

“I think Braintree will be a tough test but hopefully we'll beat them and come back with three more points.”
