THE final fixture of yet another hectic and eventful season was played in division two and resulted in a 2-1 victory for Nelson Grove (Zak Taylor & Dan Murphy) over Vineyard (Dave Southall) and hauled them off th bottom rung.

The roll of honour for this campaign shows that Millhouse could have achieved a haul of four trophies but ended with two when taking the premier division title and the Capitol Cup in yet another successful season for manager Paul Greenslade.

Batting with many young players, new team Wallasey Oval could have captured a unique treble, but finished with the division two league and cup double in a great first season back in the league and proved their worth to manager Tom Evans. Parkview FC halted their treble quest when winning the Dutchman Cup.

FC Victoria claimed the division one title in their final fixture versus Ship Wallasey, but both sides should do well in the higher grade division next term.

AM Plant Hire will also be promoted as they finished second and also got pipped in the division one cup final against Clarence FC by a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Great Float S&S bagged the oldest cup in the leagues history when beating Millhouse in the Magee Cup final and they also claimed runners up spot in the premier division.

The new blood of Grange Hearts made the division two title race very interesting as they became runners up and they also provided a brave underdogs performance in the Capitol Cup final when losing to Millhouse in an all Moreton affair.

Liscard Bronze failed to retain their premier division title, but did claim the premier division cup with a hard fought extra time 1-0 victory over Millhouse.

A dominant AFC Liverpool won the Dundee youth division when losing only one game and finishing eight points clear of nearest rivals West Kirby Wasps, but were stung by the same team in the youth divisions cup final as Wasps won 3-2 in a thrilling game.

The Grove youth division was an even closer fought encounter as Shaftesbury Youth finished top by just three points above Gayton JFC, who in turn finished two points ahead of Beechwood Falcons after winning their final fixture to claim the runners up position.

Sad points of the season saw teams failing to fulfil fixtures and eventually resign from the league, which as always causes mammoth problems for the league management committee.

Those teams were Primrose FC and Black FC (Premier division), Rockpark FC (division one), Upton Youth (Dundee youth division), Ellesmere Port Rangers and Malvern FC (Grove youth division).

Members of the youth section have been offered the opportunity to play in either under-19 or under-20 divisions next season, but not many have yet replied to the offer and in fact Gayton JFC have now officially resigned from the league due to players going off to university.

Many thank are offered to each and every team, all the referees, the local media and the league management committee for their support and efforts throughout this entertaining campaign and we hope next season will be just as successful for all concerned.
