TRANMERE Rovers' coach Alan Rogers urged fans to 'stick with' the club in the final weeks of its relegation battle.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's League Two clash with Mansfield, Alan Rogers said the last few weeks had been frustrating for fans.

A first half strike by Barry Corr earned play-off hopefuls Southend Utd victory over Tranmere on Saturday, leaving Micky Adams squad in the relegation zone in 23rd position.

Micky Adams hopes of victory were hampered by a virus that took George Green, Adam Dugdale and Iain Hume off the pitch. Max Power was also felled by the virus during last Monday's game against Luton Town, but was among the squad for Saturday's trip to Southend.

With only four fixtures left to salvage hopes of keeping Rovers in the Football League, tomorrow's match is of huge importance.

During this afternoon's press conference at Prenton Park, Alan Rogers said: "Stick with us.

"There was a bit of frustration on Saturday, especially when Max Power was taken off, but the truth is Max was on a drip in hospital on Tuesday.

"The bigger picture is we've got to look after the kid as well.

"But apart from that the fans have been great. It's been a tough season for the players, but stick with us."

On the virus that hit players last week, Rogers said: "It seems to be one of those 24 and 48-hour bugs, but we are getting a few of our bodies back now.

"Ian Hulmne came back and trained today.

"He's still a little bit off and has lost a couple of pounds. It's taken its toll on him, but he's not letting it beat him. George Green's back in training too.

"It's not really impacted on training too much."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's match against 21st on the table Mansfield, Rogers said: "We've got to win. The lads are working their socks off on the training ground.

"It's going to be a tense game. We've got to go to Mansfield and win this game.

"It's an equally big game for them."
