THE only unbeaten record in the Carlsberg West Cheshire League was forfeited in midweek, after current Division One leaders South Lverpool suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of relegation threatened Southport Trinity, who secured the result courtesy of goals from Connor Ellis-Pratt, Callum Kelly and Danny Ventre.

Although the leaders bounced back on Saturday, via a 3-0 eclipse of Vauxhall Motors, the initiative was handed to nearest rivals, Cammell Laird 1907 Reserves, who won 2-0 at Mossley Hill Athletic, with goals from James Clare and Lee Bridge.

The consistent Shipbuilders are now four points in arrears of the leaders, with two games in hand.

Maghull's losing sequence was interrupted on Saturday, after Mike McGinn bagged the game's only goal in a hard fought win at Capenhurst Villa, while West Kirby posted a fine 3-0 win at Southport Trinity with Tom Johnstone, Joel Douglas and Ben Glover on the mark.

Newly-crowned Division Two champions, Rainhill Town, were inpsired by a Lee Thompson hat trick in Saturday's 7-2 victory over at Bebington Athletic.

An Ashley Elliot double was supplemented by further efforts from Jack West and skipper Colm Lynch, as Town toasted their second successive league title.

With nearest rivals Heswall disengaged, third-placed Richmond MAGS moved to within two points of their Gayton Park promotion rivals.

Despite the leg up of two own goals, Jimmy Woods' charges endorsed the 6-2 triumph, with additional goals from Robbie Madine (2), Colifa Kamara and Phil Thompson.

Promotion outsiders Neston Nomads stayed on course for a place in the shake up, after Ben Pearson's strike five minutes into the game, earned them the nod over local rivals, Heswall Reserves.

Saturday's Youth Division action saw South Liverpool Youth edge nearer the title after they blitzed Vauxhall Motors Youth 6-0, with goals from Alex Griffiths (2), Alex Walsh (2), Mark Gurrell and Adam Evans.

Finalists for the Chester & District FA Senior Cuip final were resolved after four goal Nathan Mapletoft stole the show in Upton AA's 6-3 decision over Blacon Thistle, and efforts from Jack Delgado and Joe Imlach saw Chester Nomads over the line in a close fought 2-1 result over holders Lache FC.
