NEW Brighton Quarry Viking's John Cosgrove clearly enjoyed the warmer conditions on Sunday.

He had his first win in this season's Bowls Flyers when he beat his team mate John Harrison at Quarry Vikings in another close, hard-fought final.

In doing so, he was able to force himself into a top sixteen spot in the points table and qualify for the final Tournament of this Winter which is next Sunday.

Despite the very pleasant weather other attractions elsewhere meant that the turnout on Sunday was somewhat reduced but this did not mean that the matches were any less competitive.

In the quarter finals Cosgrove had a good win over West Kirby's Bill Atkinson before beating New Brighton Queens Royal's Eddie Dutton in the semi final.

John Harrison, continuing his fine form of recent weeks, beat Port Sunlight Village and Works John Eisen in the quarters and then he just got the better of Heswall's John Lloyd who would have liked to take his second win in only his second visit of the year.

All the players had enjoyed the faster greens and the two finalists were able to produce a good quality game with Cosgrove winning it 21-19.
