TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Adams has added to his squad by signing Chesterfield's Dan Gardner on a month's loan.

The 24-year-old signed for the Spireites in January 2014 after impressing for FC Halifax. He has made 15 appearances for the League One side this season.

He comes to Prenton Park at a difficult time for Rovers. The squad is one spot above the League Two relegation places after being beaten 2-1 by promotion chasing Wycombe Wanderers at Prenton Park on Tuesday night.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, Gardner said: "It seems like a good place to be in. At the moment they're in a fight to stay in the league but, hopefully, we can push on and stay up.

"There's a lot more pressure, but it'll make you play better.

"The boss has spoken to me and wants me to create a lot more chances and help the team get more goals.

"They look a bit low on confidence at the moment but, hopefully that will get sorted by the weekend and we'll get a win. We need to beat Dagenham on Saturday and get the season up and going."
