FINALISTS for the Wirral & District FA's Senior Cup were resolved on Saturday, after Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division One sides Vauxhall Motors and Mallaby accounted for Capenhurst Villa and Heswall respectively.

Both games were close run affairs with the Motormen winning 2-1 and Mallaby savouring a single goal victory.

In the South Wirral derby Mark Noakes and Danny Cross were on the mark for Vauxhalls while a 73rd minute penalty from Gerard Mullen secured Mallaby's passage at the expense of a resilient Heswall.

Well done to Capenhurst Villa Res. who reached the Wirral & District FA's Amateur Cup final after goals from Mark Ryan (2) Phil Quilliam and Danny Higginson secured a hard earned 4-3 win at Shaftesbury Youth Club and it was celebration time for Belfry, who were 5-1 victors in their in their Liverpool County FA Junior Cup fifth-round tussle with rival Division Three side Hale Res.

Ike Ordish (2), Jamie Ranford, Joel Redmond and John Milner netted for the winners.

On the domestic scene, despite a goal from Adam Collins, Helsby capitulated 3-1 at home to unbeaten Division One leaders, South Liverpool.

Efforts from Alex Woodcock, Kevin Martin and an own goal were South's contribution but nearest rivals, Cammell Laird 1907 Reserves, were also victorious and stayed in contention thanks to a 3-2 result at Chester Nomads.

West Kirby won by the same scoreline against Upton AA, with Liam Atherton, Lee Gibson and Dave Bowe on target.

Mike Flavell and Danny Cowle scored Upton's consolations. Respective scorers in Mossley Hill Athletic's 3-3 stalemate with Blacon YC were Dave Kelly, Thomas McNamara, Luke Wynne, Robbie Joinson (2) and Mike Makin.

Another game which finished 3-3 saw Jack Brookes (2) and Ged King find the net for Newton with Wayne Smith (2) and James Ormisher in reply for Hale.

Division Two promotion contenders Richmond Mags celebrated a 4-2 decision over Marshalls, courtesy of a goal apiece from Jamie English, Ally Birmingham, Danny Powell and Paul Gouthwaite.

A Danny Norris penalty and an effort from Joe Caswell were enough, as Vauxhall Motors Res. beat West Kirby Reserves 2-1, while Jay Hooper struck twice in Maghull Res' 2-1 eclipse of West Kirby Res.

Top scorers in Division Three were Bootle Res. who were indebted to goals from Adam Campbell (2), Jack Meadows (2), Carter Costello and John Prescott for their 6-2 success at Marshalls Res. who hit back via Richard Jones and Jack Manners.

Darren Moore scored twice for Mersey Royal but it was promotion outsiders, Neston Nomads, who profited, after a hat trick from Richie Foulkes, supplemented by further goals from Lee Cairns and Rob Cotterall clinched a 5-2 victory.

The Chester derby between Upton AA Res. and Chester Nomads Res was settled 3-2 in Nomads favour with George Jones, Joe Imlach and Kai Stockton scoring for the winners.

Elsewhere, a goal from Heswall Res' Luke Blondell was negated by a reply from FC St Helens' Dean Crougham.

Saturday's Youth Division action saw West Kirby Youth's Tom Johnstone steal the limelight, after his hat trick anchored his side to a 5-2 triumph over current leaders, South Liverpool Youth.

Shaun Smith and Elliot Nevitt were the scorers as Custys beat Belfry Youth 2-1 but a Licas Robinson double counted for nothing as Litherland Remyca Youth capitulated 3-2 to Chester Nomads Youth.
