TRANMERE Rovers' players took on sixth formers from Bebington High School in a computerised football match that raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Students had organised a FIFA Challenge tournament as part of their coursework and set about in teams to raise the most money for charity.

Rovers' First team players Abdulai Baggle, Liam Davies, Sam Ramsbottom and James Rowe came along to take on the young squad.

The pupils set about creating posters, invites, certificates and arranging for refreshments whilst trying to keep costs to a minimum.

The four students scheduled matches each day and £2 entry fee was charged; both teachers and students took part, culminating with the final last Friday. Tickets were sold during lunchtime to watch the match.

It raised £215, some of which will go towards hosting a wheelchair basketball / basketball tournament for local primary schools in the area.

The rest will be donated to Scope. The overall winner of the trophy was Imdad Hussain and runner up was Jake Byrne.
