TRANMERE Rovers have signed up to become the drop-off point for two local charity initiatives this Christmas.

The club will be a drop off point for Wirral Food Bank on Tuesday, December 9 - the same day Rovers host Walsall in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Wirral Food Bank supports individuals and families in crisis with donations of food parcels.

Supporters can donate in-date, non-perishable food items such as tinned or packet soup, sugar, pasta and noodles (dried), tea bags, tinned tomatoes, baked beans, cartons of orange Juice, baby food, breakfast cereal and tinned vegetables.

Items can be left in the club shop on Tuesday, December 9.

Prenton Park is also a drop off location for Radio City's Cash for Kids: Mission Christmas toy appeal.

Supporters can play their part by donating new toys which will help make the festive season happy for local disabled and disadvantaged children.

The appeal is looking for gifts, not used toys, suitable for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years. Presents for very young children and babies, as well as teenagers, are particularly welcome.

Gifts – which should be unwrapped - can be dropped off in the club shop at Prenton Park up until Monday, December 15.

Last year Radio City delivered more than £557,000 worth of gifts to over 21,700 local children.

Rovers' vice-chairman Nicola Palios said: "We're delighted to be able to help out two fantastic local charities.

"We hope our supporters will really get behind Mission Christmas and Wirral Food Bank and spread some cheer this Christmas.

"A small donation can make a huge difference."
