WIRRAL on their first visit to Westoe came away with a comprehensive victory following a 15-man exhibition of open rugby.

Wirral took control of the game as early as the 4th minute with a try from hooker, Jason Green and a few minutes later the lead was doubled to 0-14 when a clearance kick was charged down giving Ali Baker the first of his tries.

Whilst Westoe replied with a penalty, the away side ran in a further three tries through Ali Baker, Matt Brown and Rob Pearl before half time to give Wirral the bonus point and a half time lead of 3-35.

In the second half, Westoe played a more attacking game and whilst they had opportunities the Wirral defence held out before the away side embarked on another scoring spree with tries from Rob Pearl, James Annetts and a hat trick try from Ali Baker.

James Annetts followed up his all round game with a superb kicking game both to touch and converting all eight tries to give him a personal haul of 21 points.

Towards the end of the game as Wirral suffered various injuries and played the last 10 minutes with 14 men, Westoe took the opportunity to score three tries to give the score for their home supporters an air of respectability.

This win draws Wirral nearer the teams in the middle of the table as they prepare for next week's game against Firwood Waterloo.
