A RAMPANT Kent FC hit top form on Sunday and celebrated a 5-0 victory over arch rivals, Riverside.

The result saw Steve English's men draw level on points with leaders, Neston Nomads, in the race for the the Wirral Sunday League's Premier Division title.

Three-goal Jonathan Parkinson took the plaudits, but it was an industrious performance from Connor Duffy, which earned him the man of the match accolade.

Isaac Beckford and Craig Langhorn were the other marksmen, as Kent cranked up the pressure on the reigning champions.

Newcomers, Grace Arms, were assured of third place in the table, after they emerged 4-3 victors from an entertaining contest with Wallasey Athletic, who had goals from Matty Pickles, John Berry and a long distance strike from Mark Tolcher to show for their efforts.

The Ellesmere Port outfit sealed the win, courtesy of doubles from Mark Roberts and Scott Rowley.

Fourth-placed Woodchurch Rovers stayed in the leading group's slipstream, following a goal packed thriller with MSC Eastham, which finished 7-4 in Rovers' favour.

Doubles from Alan Sutton and Alan Cairns were supplemented by further goals from Jamie Ferguson, Mark Williams and Danny Chamney.

Eastham hit back via Chris Gear, Tony Edwards and Adam Selby.

On the County scene, Neston Nomads were left cursing their luck, despite a two goal blast from Richie Foulkes and a Rob Marrs effort which gave them a 3-0 cushion against Pockets FC in the Cheshire County FA's Sunday Amateur Cup first round.

The visitors put in a good shift after the break, and brought the scores level with a minute of normal time remaining before clinching a 6-3 result in extra time.

It was a similar tale of woe for Premier Division rivals, Telegraph, who had Kyle Williams (2) and Ben Fitzpatrick on target but suffered a 4-3 defaet at the hands of Birkenhead League counterparts, Beechwood Social.

Halfway Social were denied a place in the hat for the Wirral & Disrtrict FA's Sunday Junior Cup second round draw after they went down 4-1 to The Sandbrook, but fellow WSL clubs, Port Sunlight and Bronze made progress, after they accounted for Wallasey Town and Wirral Radio respectively.

Ally Ross, Chris Corkhill and Justin Aylet bagged the goals, as Sunlight won 3-0, while Bronze's 4-1 success featured goals from Rob Nugent, John Henderson, Kevin Randall and Paul Ricci.
