TRANMERE Rovers' boss Rob Edwards hopes a positive week's work will pay off for his squad when they take on Hartlepool United this weekend.

Rovers go into tomorrow's game at Victoria Park in 15th place in the division with seven points from six games. A win could lift the club into the top half of the division.

The manager has had his squad hard at work aiming to resond to last Saturday's defeat at Accrington Stanley with a third win of the season.

In a statement on the club's website, Edwards said: "We've had plenty of things we've worked on and spoken about and a few of the older players played for the reserves on Tuesday.

"It has been a good training week, the pitches are good and we've been able to do a lot of work.

"I'm not one to let things linger, we were positive on Monday and the players are as determined as me that we're going to have a good side this year and start winning more games.

"There's always positives and always things to learn from. Hopefully we're learning quickly.

"We're conceding too many goals from throw ins around our area so we've worked on that. We've got to make sure we play our game."

Hartlepool are one point and three places below Tranmere. At home they have won one and lost two in 2014-15.

Assessing this weekend's opponents, Edwards continued: "I know Hartlepool well. They play 4-4-2 with two good wide players so there's a challenge there.

"It's a tough place to go but it's a good pitch and there will plenty of opportunities to play our football. We're looking forward to the game."
