Accrington Stanley's lack of success so far this season could make them react like a "wounded animal" when Tranmere travel to the Store First Stadium, said Rovers boss Rob Edwards.

Accrington have yet to win a game and are at the foot of the League Two table.

The manager said he won't be lulled into a false sense of security: "I watched them play on Tuesday night and they’ll be disappointed they’ve lost a few games lately and will be a wounded animal.

"They’ll be a difficult side to face on Saturday.

"It doesn’t count for anything if you don’t turn up with the right attitude and application on the day.

"The players are aware it’s a tough game and it’s a tough place to play. With a home win you need to go away and try to get another win to make the most of it."

Edwards said he is happier with the strength in depth of his squad after signing George Donnelly, Matt Hill and Peter Brezovan earlier in the week.

He said: "We’ve got players who can contribute at this level. The bench now will look strong and we’ve got players who can come in and do a job.

“Peter will push Fonners and we’ll have good competition for places.

"George is somebody I've seen play and he’s good at stretching defences. He's very quick in behind them and we needed that in our strikers. He’ll add to a group of strikers in which we’ve now got a bit of everything.

“Matt has been great and great in the dressing room. He’s been there and done it and he’s a great influence.”
