IT was a successful day for both the two Wirral's representative teams on Sunday.

The Birkenhead and District team had a superb victory over local rivals Cheshire in their British Parks match.

In the home leg at Levers they had nine winners and five of these were to single figures with Gerry Riley and Nick Burridge winning 21-5. This meant that the team recorded a big 236-157 victory.

Not to be outdone, the away team playing at the Nursery Club in Stockport were even more dominant with ten winners, Paul Brady's 21-07 was the pick of the bunch, and they won by the huge margin of 239-154. All in all a great performance by the team.

The Wallasey Association's Federation team enjoyed their third successive win of the season, this time by 17 to 15, when they defeated East Lancashire in a much closer match.

Unfortunately this win was not quite enough to enable Wallasey to take the top spot in the division but the team does win promotion into the next division for 2015.

In the home leg on Harrison Park No 3 green the team had eight winners with no fewer than five of these being to single figures.

Craig and Colin Saville, Les Henderson and Anthony Thompson all won 21-06 and the team won 235-161.

The away leg on the green at the East Lancs Cricket Club proved to be much more difficult and Wallasey only had three winners with Bill Atkinson's 21-14 the best score; the team lost by 239-208.

The winners of the Pensby Pairs Tournament played on Saturday was the Pensby pairing of Margaret Gard and Peter Jones.

This is apparently the first time two home players have won this tournament. In the final they beat Jordan McElnay of Albany and Jamie Smith of Gladstone.

Results: Semi Finals: J. McElnay and J. Smith 21, A. and S. Richardson 19; M. Gard and P. Jones beat J. Clarke and T. Hulley. Final: Gard and Jones 21, McElnay and Smith 12.

Last season was not a good one for the Harrison Park Club, the team had topped the first division as recently as 2007 but last year they were relegated to division 2.

This year they top the division by a very comfortable margin and on Friday they won the Shield beating Oxton Conservatives 'B' in the final at Levers.

They had to give their third division opponents a 25 point start but they had taken the lead after just five games.

However a spirited fight, led by a 21-07 victory for Brian Lawrence, gave the Oxton Club fresh hope and it took a great 21-06 win for Harrison Park's Bill Jones to ensure that his club took the trophy by the narrow margin of just two points.

Owen Turner was the winner of the Wirral Junior Tournament, he beat Mark Wood 21-17 in the final. In the semi finals Turner beat Josh Bunting 21-09 while Wood just got the better of Chloe Cavanagh 21-19.
