Marc Laird has today joined Tranmere Rovers on a one-year contract.
The midfielder’s deal comes into immediate effect and he will be available for the pre-season friendlies next week.
Laird started his career in Manchester City’s youth system and spells at Millwall and Leyton Orient took him to Southend United two seasons ago. He has scored 14 goals in almost 200 career appearances.
The 28-year old has been training with the first team squad at Raby Vale over the last week and impressed manager Rob Edwards.
Edwards said: “I’m really pleased Marc has agreed to join us.
“He’s shown his commitment to the club by coming in and training with us for a week.
“He’s got a great attitude and someone who will add fantastic fitness levels and know-how to our midfield. He’ll really complement the other players we’ve got in that department.”
Marc is Edwards’ sixth new signing this summer following the arrivals of Kayode Odejayi, Marcus Holness, Michael Ihiekwe, Eliot Richards and Matt Gill.
