Manager Rob Edwards is pleased with how the first few days of Tranmere’s pre-season training have gone.

The players returned to Prenton Park last Wednesday and have spent three mornings at Raby Vale together with work at the ground in the afternoons.

The boss said: “I’ve enjoyed it and I hope the players have as well. We’ve done quite a lot of work and it’s great to have met the players. I’m really impressed by them, their attitude and technical ability. I can’t wait to get the games started.

“Their application has been spot on. In the first day or two there is a lot of anxiety so I’ve tried to relax the players. Next week we’ll crank it up to see what they’re good at and what they’re not so good at.

“The first few days were about getting to know each other and enjoying being in the group. The group are going to spend an awful lot of time together and they need to get on and push each other.

“We’ve had three players training with us the last two days from the youth team and I’ve been really impressed by them. It’s got to be that we’re giving people opportunities. We want to give players a chance.”
