TRANMERE midfielder Andy Robinson has left the club by mutual consent.

The Prenton Park club today confirmed that the 34-year-old from Rock Ferry, who has made 107 appearances for Rovers over four spells, scoring 19 goals, has departed.

His contract was due to expire this summer.

After starting his professional career with the Super Whites in 2002, Robinson has spells at Swansea City and Leeds United before returning to Prenton Park in 2010 as a loan player.

He signed on a permanent basis after his goal against Millwall helped to keep Tranmere in League One.

Despite his talents, injuries often limited the number of appearances Robinson was able to make and he has struggled with his fitness for much of this season, making just one senior start since January.

He has made a total of 20 appearances this season.

Tranmere’s Football Operations Director and club secretary, Mick Horton, said: “Andy has been a fantastic player for the club. We wish him all the best."

Fans have taken to social media to discuss Robinson's departure, with many praising him and wishing him well.
