AN up and coming Wirral athlete has capped a successful running season by being selected for the London Mini Marathon next month.
Krystina Martindale who is attached to Wirral AC is part of the six-strong North of England Under 13 team in the marathon on Sunday April 13.
Her results over the last twelve months have included seventh place in the Northern Cross Country Championships, 17th place in the English Cross Country Championships and fifteenth place in the UK Inter Counties Championships when running for Merseyside who were second overall.
Krystina, 12 and from Hoylake, also represented the Merseyside Schools Junior Team (under 15) in the English Schools Cross Country Championships in which she finished a creditable 33rd.
Coach Graham Patterson said: “Krystina has performed fantastically over the last couple of years and is part of an amazing squad of young athletes we have attached to Wirral AC. She fully deserves this London opportunity”.
