SPRING was definitely in the air on Sunday as another big turn out of players enjoyed the sunshine in Birkenhead Park.

It is probable that no one enjoyed it more than the winner, Tixall’s Mick Andrews, who with this victory has won three of the Winter Flyers Tournaments in succession.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that it is not the first time he has achieved this feat.

In the final he beat Upton Victory Hall’s Tony Cavanagh who had some excellent wins on the way to the final.

In the quarter finals Andrews beat Royden Hall's Dave Hazlehurst before he had a tremendous win over his club mate at Tixall's, Matthew Gilmore, a player who has been the overall winner three times since the New Year.

Meanwhile Cavanagh had beaten New Brighton Queens Royal's Ray Lynch in a tight game in the quarter finals before having a very good win over another Tixall player, Robbie Hall, in the semis.

The final was close but Andrews always seemed in control and took the game 21-18.
