SAILING: Tidal class season comes to end
A SEASON of tidal class racing comes to an end at West Kirby and Hoylake this coming weekend when crews hope to take advantage of some of the biggest tides of the year.
Other local clubs have already finished their programmes but Liverpool Yacht Club / Tranmere Sailing Club will continue their activities during the winter months on the River Mersey and West Kirby will have their Handicap dinghy competition on the Marine Lake each Sunday.
Liverpool had an eight-strong turnout for their latest racing, but some yachts could not complete the course due to the light breeze.
Bada Bing, owned by Andy Farrall and Andrew Napper, claimed Class One ahead of Mighty Max (Neil Thomas).
John Myerscough in Quilla was the only finisher in Class Two.
The Champion of Champions event for West Kirby class series winners recently culminated in victory on corrected times to Jemima Riley sailing the Hilbre Hirondelle.
A Lark Class Open Meeting saw visiting crews take the main honours.
West Kirby also hosted a two day Open Meeting for Fireflies at the weekend with a dozen craft in action.
