Sailing: Low key event
WEST Kirby Sailing Club recently staged the Falcon Class Championship on the Dee Estuary but it was a rather low key affair.
Overall victory went to Aquilla sailed by home entrant John Corkhill.
An open meeting for the Albacore class saw visiting craft take the major placings. The best home result was attained by Mike Hartley in fourth place.
West Kirby hosted an Open meeting for the Solo Class on Sunday and next weekend put on a two day Open event for Fireflies on the Marine Lake.
Hoylake had their annual clubhouse cruise at the weekend with racing before and after. Gavin Melling won one race in La Tosca with the other result still to be determined.
The next and last tidal competition of the season for Hoylake and West Kirby will be on the weekend of October 5, October 6.
Liverpool Yacht Club/Tranmere Sailing Club will continue racing on the Mersey throughout the winter months.
