Tranmere Rovers urged to step up their game against Brentford
RONNIE Moore expects Tranmere Rovers to step up their game when they face Brentford in League One action at Prenton Park tomorrow.
Kicking off at 3pm, it will be the 47th time the two clubs have met with Tranmere holding a 21 wins to 16 advantage.
Uwe Rosler's squad come to Birkenhead following a 4-0 defeat by Bradford last weekend.
It was a result Moore said they didn't deserve. He told the club's website Tranmere Player: "It was 0-0 when their keeper has gone.
"I've seen the DVD and there was nothing in the game, if anything Brentford were the better side. But once their keeper has gone off they conceded."
Looking ahead to tomorrow's game, he continued: "Uwe has done a fantastic job there. He's got a great squad this year and they're not going to be a million miles away.
"We know it's going to be tough but it's about us. We had two tremendous games against them last year.
"They pinched a draw here in the 95th minute from a long throw and we put in one of our best performances at their ground when we won 2-1.
"The big thing is they're going to come here trying to win. I felt last weekend that Stevenage sat back and said 'you break us down'.
"Brentford will be having a go which sets up an entertaining game.
"They've got good players, they can pass and they've got goalscorers, but so have we.
"We've seen some improvement but we still need to step it up another gear.
"If we come out with the right attitude and tempo I don't fear anybody, especially at home."
Goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams and Abdulai Baggie return to Moore's squad tomorrow after missing last Saturday's game against Stevenage.
The pair were on international duty with Wales and Sierra Leone respectively but returned to Prenton Park this week after their World Cup qualifiers.
Ian Goodison is expected to be fit despite coming off against Stevenage with a tight hamstring.
But still on the injury bench are Andy Robinson, Jason Koumas, Jake Kirby and James Wallace.
Adam Dugdale could make his second start in a Tranmere shirt while the match is the last game of Andrai Jones' loan spell from Barnsley.
Rovers go into the game in 18th place in League 1 with five points from six games. At Prenton Park Rovers have drawn two and lost one in the league.
Brentford are ninth in the division with nine points. On the road this season The Bees have drawn two and lost one.
Manager Uwe Rosler is able to call upon former Walsall striker Will Grigg after he returned to the club following international duty with Northern Ireland while he has also added Martin Taylor and Joao Carlos Teixeira to his squad on loan from Sheffield Wednesday and Liverpool respectively.
However, goalkeeper David Button is unavailable after being sent off last weekend at Bradford and Jake Bidwell and Jonathan Douglas miss out through injury.
A miniature model of a statue honouring Tranmere Rovers' legendary manager Johnny King will be unveiled during a special event prior to the game tomorrow.
The maquette, which acclaimed local sculptor Tom Murphy has spent the last three months crafting, will be on display in Aldo's Bar behind the Kop Stand from 12.30pm to 2.30pm when all supporters will be able to get their first glimpse of what the final life-size bronze statue will look like.
The model has already received the seal of approval from Johnny King himself.
The Tranmere Rovers Supporters' Trust will announce a number of fund-raising initiatives at the unveiling through which they intend to raise the remainder of the £50,000 required to complete the project.
Chairman Ben Harrison said: "We're very excited about finally unveiling the maquette.
"All the Trust board have been thrilled to see the results of Tom's efforts over the last three months and we're sure it will create quite a buzz.
"This will be a truly fitting and much deserved tribute to a true Tranmere legend."
Further details will be available at the unveiling on Saturday and thereafter via www.tranmereroverstrust.co.uk
