TRANMERE were denied by the woodwork twice as they were held to a goalless draw by Stevenage at Prenton Park.
Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Evan Horwood both struck the post on a frustrating afternoon for the dominant hosts.
Manager Ronnie Moore made five changes to the side that was beaten by Fleetwood on Tuesday.
In came Jason Mooney, Danny Holmes, Adam Dugdale, Joe Thompson and Akpa Akpro, in place of Owain Fon Williams, Andrai Jones, Ash Taylor, Akpo Sodje and Cole Stockton.
The manager felt his side should have taken all three points from the encounter: "I think we had enough of the game to have won it.
"The two efforts that hit the post were fantastic strikes by both of them, we just didn't get the breaks.
"We looked a lot more solid and moved it well.
"I can't criticise them today, the effort and commitment was there and we just needed that little spark. When we got goal side of them the pull backs weren't in the right areas.
"There is plenty to build on.
"The crowd were good and when the players chase and harry and run and do the dirty bits, it lifts the crowd."
Moore said he replaced Ian Goodison with Ash Taylor during the second half as the centre back picked up a a hamstring strain: "He could come in on Monday and feel all right," said Ronnie.
"He's a one-off. He's at the stage now where he does more cycling in training than football just to keep him ticking over."
