Tranmere Rovers against Peterborough at home tomorrow
TRANMERE Rovers face Peterborough United in League One action at Prenton Park tomorrow afternoon.
Kicking off at 3pm, it will be the 47th league meeting between the two clubs, with Rovers currently two wins ahead at 17-15.
Ronnie Moore's squad were beaten 2-1 by Crewe last weekend.
Posh's last trip to Prenton Park saw a goal from Derby County loanee Arnaud Mendy earn Les Parry's side a 1-0 win in February 2010. Later that season Rovers were defeated 2-1 at London Road.
Since 2000 both clubs have inflicted 5-0 defeats on the other, and the biggest score ever in a game between the two is a 7-0 win for Tranmere in October 1985 when Ian Muir's four goal haul was added to by strikes from Frank Worthington (2) and Johnny Morrissey.
Rovers manager Moore admits he has missed out on the player he had hoped to bring to Prenton Park on loan.
His aim was to recruit the centre back ahead of tomorrow's game, but the deal will now not take place.
Moore said: "I had the deal all sorted with his club but the player has decided he wants to stay where he is and fight for his place.
"But we'll keep looking and making phone calls and you never know what might be around the corner."
He is also without Ian Goodison and Akpo Sodje this weekend. The pair missed the match at Crewe with ankle and knee injuries respectively and won’t be included in the squad this weekend.
Rovers are at home again on Tuesday, August 27, in Capital One Cup against Championship side Bolton Wanderers. Kick-off will be at 7.45pm.
