REFEREE George Leicester reached an amazing personal milestone as he took charge of his 3,500th game, in the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League Division Three tie between Armchair Alliance and Victoria Lodge.
Congratulations to George, but it was Victoria Lodge's goal machine Liam Rose who stole the headlines with another four-goal haul as his side remained top of the table with a 4-0 win.
Allport Athletic beat Wirral Spartans 3-0 to stay level on points at the top, with goals from Jacques Bonfrer (2) and Mike Williams.
Old Parkonians (Liam Furber 2, Ben Kierman) dropped points in a 3-3 draw with Beechwood Falcons (Luke Wynne 2, Connor McDonald) but remain in the promotion battle and New Ferry Rangers (Peter Brown 2, Sam Horner) got an important three points in a 3-2 victory over Shawcross (Ian Duckworth, Peter Reynolds).
Wade Sword got the goal that put Beechwood Youth in to the Final of the Cheshire Youth Cup; his 70th minute finish was enough to seal a 1-0 win over West Kirby Wasps.
After a goal-less 120 minutes between Queens Park and Rock Ferry Social in the Tony Houlihan’s Memorial Challenge Cup, it was Social that held their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out 5-4.
