Carlsberg West Cheshire League: Heswall through to semi-finals
CHESHIRE County FA Amateur Cup holders, Heswall took a step nearer to retaining their trophy after they overcame rival League Division One outfit Upton AA and secured their passage to semi-finals.
A smart double from Richie Foulkes was supplemented by further efforts from Paul Ellison and Paul Howell, as the Gayton Park club posted a 4-1 result.
On the district scene, it was celebration time for holders Ashville who eclipsed Maghull 2-1 in the Wirral & District FA Senior Cup first round, and in the Chester & District FA Senior Cup firstround, there was no stopping Blacon YC's Aiden Shannon who bagged a hat-trick in the 6-0 blitz of Chester Celtic.
