Wallasey & District Sunday League

BAD weather disrupted the scheduled fixtures this week, but this didn’t prevent three sides progressing into round three of the Cheshire FA Cup.

Great Float S&S washed away the challenge of Millbrow in an 8-0 demolition that saw James Harris net a treble and Lee Bridge, Tom Harris, Tom Fardoe, Sean Parrington and Sean Mooney all bag singles.

Paul Howell collected a double, with James Clare and Perrie Black both claiming singles which helped Millhouse grind down Packhorse in a 4-1 success, but Poulton Royal had to rely on keeper Paddy Carroll to ensure their passage following a penalty shoot-out, which they won 5-4, and this after Neil Atkinson had netted for them a 1-1 draw after extra time away at Woodlands Athletic.

More success for the league came in the Cheshire Youth Cup as Christleton Youth battled to a 3-1 victory away at Sandbach United, thanks to efforts from Lewis Donovan, Gareth Hughes and John Crump.

Also through are Heswall Youth who overpowered a young Kingsmead side as they humbled them 12-2.

Destroyer-in-chief was Luke Blondell with five goals, with Aiden Middleton and Will Hughes hitting doubles and Elliott Carbis and Elliott Sutton added singles in a one sided affair.

New Brighton Youth went out despite a gallant performance against a strong Chester Youth team.

Two Capitol Cup 1st round ties took place and resulted in Liscard Bronze beating Grange Moreton 5-1, as Steve Bridge scored a hat-trick, with Lee Davey and Karl Murphy bagging one apiece and Sean McManus claimed the lone response. Shippons FC edged out youth team Manor Youth in a 2-1 win.

The Clarence fought out a 3-3 draw with Upton FC in the only game in division One, thanks to Gary Fletcher, Rob Allen and Stuart Pritchard finding the net which keeps them in third place.

Division Two action saw leaders Rockpark ease home in a double figure victory over Autumn FC in which Tom Williams and Anthony Clarkson scored four goals each, with Conner Flynn-3, Ian Watkins-2, Kevin Doubty and Lee Doubty adding the extras.

AM Plant Hire dug in to secure a 7-3 win away at Poulton Vics due to goals from John Walters-2, Rob Bergwin-2, Mark Plant, Adam Baxter and Connor Grayson.

The Rakers made it a clean sweep with a 4-0 success over AFC Tima and Ship Wallasey sailed past Sandbrook in a 3-2 win that had Ryan Atherton-2 and Paul Williams on the score sheet and Kevin Simon notched a brace in reply.

Upton Youth moved into second place in the Youth division after beating Wirral Scorpions 3-0 with goals from Lee Wellens, Jamie Manifold and Matt Crawford and Eastham Rangers gained their first point in a 1-1 draw with Higher Beb JFC, thanks to a Alex Harris goal that levelled a Tom Robinson effort for Beb.

Three goals from Matty Clay and an own goal gave Princes Villa a 4-4 extra time draw with Shore Villa Youth in the Wirral FA Youth Cup, but they easily won the penalty shoot-out with a 3-0 margin.
