Wirral's Callum through to semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent

WIRRAL comedian Callum Oakley will take on the biggest gig of his life as he performs to the nation on Britain’s Got Talent this week.
Viewers saw the 16-year-old sail through to the competition’s semi-finals on Saturday night as judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon gave him the thumbs-up.
And now Callum, from Moreton, is hoping Globe readers will get behind him and pick up the telephone to vote for him when he appears on the show on Thursday.
He said: “I found out I was through quite a few weeks back now so it was tough keeping it all a secret – I couldn’t even tell my friends and family. It was really nerve-wracking going back to hear the judges’ verdict and I genuinely thought I hadn’t made it.
“But when Simon said ‘you’re through’, I went mad and was jumping about all over the place!”
Callum originally impressed the judges with his funny observations about teenage life, prompting David Walliams to say he was a “future star of comedy.”
But Callum, who attends Wallasey School, refused to give anything away about what he has in store for Thursday night.
He added: “Because I am doing stand-up comedy, I don’t want to rehearse it too much because by the time I come to perform for real, it will seem boring and old to me. So it is more a case of controlling my nerves and preparing to get on the stage.
“I’m going to treat the semi-final as though it is the final because it such an achievement to get this far. I just want to get out there now and do my thing – I can’t wait!”
