POLICE have teamed up with Wirral's anti-social behaviour team target The Heights' and surrounding areas in Moreton.

The joint agency venture, which includes Wirral Partnership Homes, was put in place in response to an increase in anti-social behaviour incidents involving residents and visitors to the area.

All three agencies are working closely with the local community and residents groups to tackle the issues and identify and deal with those responsible for the anti-social and criminal behaviour.

The 12-month initiative was launched with a high visibility multi agency operation in May.

Twenty-five police officers from Moreton and West Wallasey neighbourhood were joined by mounted police.

Twenty people were made subject of stop checks, three men issued with fixed penalty notices for public order offences, five licensed premises were visited, and alcohol seized from under age drinkers.

Inspector Pete Kolokotroni said: "We were very pleased with the results of the launch operation and the feedback we have since received from members of the community.

"The launch operation sent out a strong message to the community that the three agencies have joined together to share resources and use all powers available to us to clamp down on those individuals and families whose behaviour is not acceptable.

"Since the operation, we are pleased to report that the number of anti-social behaviour incidents has reduced dramatically."

Caroline Laing, Wirral Anti Social Behaviour Manager added: "Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and with our partners, we will take any steps necessary to tackle and prevent behaviour that has a negative impact on other residents' quality of life."

Brian Simpson, chief executive of Wirral Partnership Homes said: "We are committed to working in partnership with other agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour and in helping tenants and residents to live without fear in their communities."
