THE UK Independence Party is fielding its largest ever number of candidates on the Wirral in the local council elections.
The party has selected 12 people to stand in next month's elections - exactly double the number that ran last year.
"UKIP is growing in membership and more and more people support our beliefs on a whole raft of issues," said Phil Griffiths, chairman of the party's Wirral branch.
"We are the fourth largest party in this country and we want to give as many voters as possible the opportunity to show their support for us," he said.
"I would also urge voters to shake off the apathy traditionally associated with local elections. It is important for eligible residents to cast their vote and have a say in matters affecting their day to day lives," said Mr Griffiths.
"People are fed up with the mainstream parties and UKIP is the one party that offers a real alternative and the freedom to run our country free from EU bureaucracy."

EU bureaucracy ? what about Wirral bureaucrazy ?
Your ideas outstrip your potential, and your policies are a step away from the BNP.
