Meet Toffee!

Toffee is Stafforshire Bull Terrier and lives with his mum, Karen Todd, in Wallasey.

Karen said: "Five days before Christmas our beautifulToffee suffered total paralysis in his rear left leg and, after an initial visit to the PDSA, we were left thinking he may need to be put to sleep.

"Thankfully a follow up visit with a different branch diagnosed a condition called Fibrocartilagenous Embolism (FCE), where nerves become damaged but can repair with home therapy and time.

"It's now a month on and Toffee is walking again; he's still quite wobbly but he can get out to the beach for a quick play.

"Relapse is common for this condition so we give him regular massage and hope his recovery continues and his little furry brain remembers his leg is still there.

"He is such a friendly dog; he adores meeting other dogs and loves children. He has a passion for Haribo sweets and cheese (he can smell cheese from another room). He is scared of flies, wind and plastic bags.

"I nominated him for Pet Of The Week not just because he's handsome but also to make people aware of his condition. It's more common than I realised and without knowledge we may well have lost him."

We wish Toffee all the very best for a speedy recovery.
