Rovers' unbeaten home run continues with victory over Yeovil Town
10:14am Monday 15th October 2012 in News By Craig Manning
ROVERS defender Danny Holmes helped his side extend their unbeaten home run to 18 games with an incredible comeback victory over Yeovil Town.
The 3-2 result took Tranmere seven points clear at the top of League One with 12 games completed.
It was very nearly 1-0 to Tranmere in the opening minute, but the visitors took the lead on eight minutes, and before the half had ended Rovers found themselves two goals down.
But captain James Wallace had pulled one back just before the break giving the squad a vital lift. Jake Cassidy equalised early in the second-half and Danny Holmes completed the comeback, scoring the winning goal.
Danny said: “When I score it’s a bit weird for me as a defender. But I’ve always wanted to score here and sharing it with the fans was a great feeling.
We came from behind against Preston last year and we feel we can do it against anyone now.
“We’ve got a good bunch of lads here and we just want to keep the run going. We’ve got that faith now and long may it continue.
“We can beat anyone on our day and I just want the games to come thick and fast now. “We can’t get too far ahead of ourselves, that’s when you fall back a bit.
“We’ll just take each game as it comes and try to rack-up the wins.”
Rovers are in League One action this weekend when they travel to AFC Bournemouth. Kick-off is at 3pm. Rovers’ boss Ronnie Moore has been named League One manager of the month for the second time this season.
Rovers' striker Jake Cassidy was also named player of the month. Tranmere Rovers are running special admission offers at both home games during the October half term holidays.
The club has reduced entry to £1 for juniors, 16 and under, at the Doncaster Rovers match on Tuesday, October 23, kick off 7.45pm. Four days later the Club will hold a special Family Fun Day at the Preston North End (Saturday, October 27, kick off 3pm) game and also run a special reduced £5 admission offer for Seniors (60+) and current and ex-servicemen and women to mark the Royal British Legion’s 2013 Poppy Appeal.
