Double honours for 'remarkable' Rovers

TRANMERE Rovers’ boss Ronnie Moore has been named League One manager of the month for the second time this season.

Moore earned the award for keading his squad to the top of the form charts in September and taking them to the top of the division. Rovers' striker Jake Cassidy was named player of the month.

The on-loan Wolves striker netted seven goals from six games in the month, including a hat-trick against Colchester United and a brace against fellow promotion hopefuls Crawley Town.

Rovers' midfielder Andy Robinson picked up the award last month. The awards mean Tranmere have now picked up all four on offer so far in 2012-13.

The two awards are determined by two separate expert panels. Speaking about Ronnie Moore's win, panel member Alan Curbishley commented: "Tranmere Rovers' remarkable start continues as they remain top of npower League One.

"Another unbeaten month bodes well for the rest of the campaign for Ronnie Moore’s free scoring side."

Commenting from npower, Sponsorship Manager Emma Collins added: "Tranmere Rovers have clearly established themselves as the side to beat in npower League 1 with this month’s unbeaten stretch a real statement of intent.

"Jake Cassidy’s scoring record has been incredible in September and he is increasingly looking like a player with a great future in the game."

Rovers' League One campaign continues tomorrow, taking on Yeovil Town at Prenton Park, 3pm kick-off.
