THE launch of a new family service is the latest move in a campaign to open a Wirral parish church to the whole community.

The new service at St Hildeburgh's Church, Hoylake, will be held every month on the last Sunday, starting on October 28, at 10am.

The new vicar, Rev Paul Rossiter, said: “This is the next stage in our commitment to open up St Hildeburgh's to everyone in the parish.

“Invitations are going out to our ‘mums and tots’ group, families whose children have been baptised here, and Hoylake’s Church of England school. Everyone will be welcome.

“The first service will be the morning after the clocks go back to give parents plenty of time to get the children to church.”

The service will feature modern worship songs, an entertaining ‘sermon’ and a children’s art event.

Since Rev Paul’s appointment three months ago, events at the church have included a successful heritage open day and a packed service for Hoylake’s Lifeboat crew.

The church is now open four days a week with a new service of morning prayer at 9am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in addition to the traditional Wednesday Holy Communion at 10am and a full range of services on Sunday.
