VISITORS to Hoylake’s fifth annual food fair will help raise funds for a lift in the town’s community centre.

Taking place at Sunday, October 28, the event will be held at The Parade, Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road from 10am-2pm.

Proceeds will be used to help build and install a lift and provide an upstairs disabled access toilet.

Vaughan Williams, chairman of Trustees at the centre, said: “The community is at the heart of everything we do here at The Parade and we want our facilities to be accessible to everyone.

“There is always something going on at the centre and until we raise the money needed to build the disabled access facilities, it means that, unfortunately, some people miss out and we want to change that as quickly as possible.”

On the day chef Julian from Julian’s Restaurant in nearby Market Street will be demonstrating cookery techniques using fresh local produce.

The food fair will include a range of stalls throughout The Parade selling a variety of products, including organic vegetables, stone baked pizzas, handmade chocolates, freshly baked breads, buffalo meat and much, much more.

Originally built as a school in 1909, The Parade is home to a range of community classes and business meeting facilities.

Vaughan Williams continued: “Our food fairs have been really successful in the past.

“We are sure that this one will be no exception and that it will take us one step closer to raising the much needed funds”.

A children's Halloween party in aid of the fundraising campaign will take place at the centre on Saturday, October 27 from 5pm-8pm.
