A TEAM of nurses from Clatterbridge Cancer Centre will take part in the Mersey Walk of Hope later this month.

Delamere Ward nurses Laura Elder, Sian Davies, Helen Blackmore and Sarah Stewart will join over a thousand people for the moonlit walk along Liverpool’s stunning waterfront on Friday, October 26. Proceeds will be split between Clatterbridge and Alder Hey hospitals.

As well as raising money for two fantastic causes, the four dedicated nurses will use the Mersey Walk of Hope to train for a trek along the Great Wall of China next September for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Sian said of both walks: “We see at first hand the difference the money raised by The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity makes to our patients.

"We wanted to do something really challenging to say thank you and raise even more money for Clatterbridge patients across the region; trekking the Great Wall of China will definitely be a challenge!

"We’re all really excited to take part in Mersey Walk of Hope as part of our training, especially as it will benefit children at Alder Hey too.

"Some of our colleagues took part last year and had such a brilliant evening we couldn’t resist being part of it this time.”

Mersey Walk of Hope is once again run in partnership between The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and Liverpool Unites for Alder Hey, and there’s a choice of a brand new 5k or 10k route from Liverpool’s Pier Head.
