BRIMSTAGE Lane in Brimstage remains closed to motorists this afternoon because of flooding caused by Monday's heavy rains.

Many roads across the borough were flooded with large amounts of surface water on many more. Several A-roads in West Wirral were particulary badly affected.

The following roads were still closed this morning, but have now reopened: Brimstage Road in Brimstage, Birkenhead Road in Meols, Arrowe Brook Lane in Greasby, Saughall Massie Road, Newton; Thornton Common Road, Thornton Hough; Clatterbridge Road near Claire House in Clatterbridge and Willaston Road in Raby.

The A540 Parkgate Road in Chester, along with Reeds Lane and Reedville Grove in Moreton are currently closed.

There is still disruption on Merseyrail between Rock Ferry and Chester, and between Rock Ferry and Ellesmere Port due to flooding at Hooton.

Trains are running every 15 minutes between Rock Ferry and Liverpool. A half-hourly service is in operation between Rock Ferry and Ellesmere Port.

Buses are also replacing trains between Rock Ferry and Hooton, and between Hooton and Chester.

Paul Heaps picture perfectly demonstrates how not to drive through flood water. Mind you, it is a Recovery Vehicle. Driver probably trying to drum up some custom.
