Blood donor sessions to take place at Tranmere Rovers ground

TRANMERE Rovers' fans will soon be able to show their support for sick and injured hospital patients, thanks to new blood donor sessions at Prenton Park.

Starting in the autumn, people will be able to give blood at the stadium’s Belmont Suite, because of a new partnership between the club and NHS Blood and Transplant.

The first sessions take place on October 12.

Appointments are available either between 2pm and 4pm or between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

NHSBT’s lead donor relations manager for the Merseyside area, Barbara Blanche, said: “We hope our new sessions at Prenton Park will help more Tranmere fans to become blood donors.

“However, the sessions are open to anyone who might find Prenton Park a convenient place to give blood if they live or work in the area."

Tranmere Rovers Physiotherapist Gregg Blundell said: “I hope our supporters get behind this partnership just as well as they back the team.

“It’s a great opportunity for Wirral people to give blood in a convenient location and help those in need.”

Anyone wishing to find out more or book an appointment can either call NHS Blood & Transplant’s donor line on 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk
